Isaac Barkley,Coroner Identifies 31-Year-Old Man Killed on Preston Hwy. in Louisville
Authorities have released the name of a man killed while attempting to cross a dark stretch of Preston Highway last month.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 31-year-old Isaac Barkley. The fatal incident occurred on the evening of December 22, 2025.
According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis, officers responded to the 7300 block of Preston Highway near Minor Lane around 5:15 p.m. Initial investigations indicate Barkley and another man were crossing the roadway. After reaching the center median, Barkley reportedly stepped back into the southbound lanes and was struck by a vehicle in the left lane.
The driver involved immediately stopped, called for help, and remained at the scene. Barkley was transported to UofL Health Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The other pedestrian was unharmed.
Police have stated that no charges are expected to be filed in connection with the crash. The investigation into the exact circumstances remains ongoing.
