Quinton Wagner,Victim Identified in Fatal Evansville Crash

EVANSVILLE — The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the man killed in a single-vehicle crash near a popular city pathway Friday morning. Quinton Wagner, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred around 5:45 a.m. near the intersection of Stringtown Road and Cardinal Drive, adjacent to the Pigeon Creek Greenway. According to Chief Deputy Coroner Amy Miller, first responders arrived to find a red SUV that had crashed through a fence separating the street and the paved bike path.

The vehicle came to rest partway down a steep, grassy embankment that descends from Cardinal Drive toward Pigeon Creek, sustaining heavy damage. The greenway itself, a key recreational route for walkers and cyclists, runs directly alongside the road at that location.

The Evansville Police Department’s investigation into the cause of the wreck remains ongoing. Authorities have not yet indicated what factors may have led to the SUV leaving the roadway. The crash serves as a somber reminder of the dangers present at the interface between busy streets and community trails.
