Kenneth Wade,Man Dies After Electric Scooter Crash Near Moffitt Library Last Month
A man has died from injuries sustained in an electric scooter crash last month near UC Berkeley’s Moffitt Library, authorities confirmed.
On December 1, the UC Police Department responded to multiple emergency calls reporting an unconscious man who had fallen from his scooter and struck his head on the south side of the library. UCPD and Berkeley Fire Department personnel arrived to find the victim, later identified as Kenneth Wade, unconscious but breathing. He received immediate aid before being transported to a local hospital.

Wade, who was not affiliated with the university, never recovered from the severe traumatic brain injury. According to a UCPD report, the Alameda County Coroner’s Office notified police last Saturday that Wade would likely be removed from life support.
Sergeant Victor Galindo of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Wade, 28, was pronounced dead on Monday due to complications from blunt head trauma. The incident remains under investigation, highlighting ongoing concerns about the safety of personal micro-mobility devices, particularly when riders forgo helmets.
